Ice conditions on Lake Joe are not to bad, stay away from bubbler systems and you will be set on catching some lakers. The lake is wet in areas but still good shape for catching fish.
Lake Rousseau is a different story, depending what bay or location you like to hit, you have to watch as the ice is leaving in some areas and becoming all open water. You can still manage to travel across Lake Rousseau on the main trails to avoid all the slushy wet spots.

Dont know about that area of Lake but out of port carling the conditions were perfect. Little snow no slush and close to 3 feet of ice. I would think this would hold for awhile with cold nights forcasted.

Sorry fellas for the late response. The ice on Lake Rousseau is still good in areas. There is still quite a bit of ice around the whole lake. However ice conditions may very each and every day. I have been across Rousseau from Minett to Port Carling for the past 2 weeks. The lake is slushy however you will see the wet spots as you are driving.

Yea, we went out in the rain, which after a few hrs the rain turned into snow. Great Afternoon though.. We got 9 fish kept 3 for a small snack. Ice is about 10 inches of black and 6 inches of white. Pretty slushy out there this afternoon. Watch out for the bubblers.

Ended up going out once the weather cleared up. Iced one, few bites, but tough fishing day. Was a bit shallower than usual. What was working for you guys?
