Finally found a local place to catch specks. Next time I'll use a bigger hook though. Was using a small steelhead hook---my other ones were really too big--- that even the little ones could swallow

I think he means the little ones were kept because they were gut hooked due to using the tiny hooks, he would rather one where he is getting the fish in the jaw.
