Fish magnet, Fished it a couple of years back. You will catch pickerel, smallies, pike and brookies during the May fly hatch. Nice river, lots of stretches you can fish on foot off the banks,if you are willing to trudge a bit.
I have fished it from 1977 off and on,on my way to Teslin Lake,Yukon Territory. Just a nice river! N.G.

It is a beauty of a river,I have been going there for 21 years now and we just love it .I fish the river a couple of days every year but then hit some of the other lakes in the area. Where heading up there the Tuesday after the long weekend for a week. We are hoping the blackflies won't be out yet but you never know up there. I was just wondering if any board members know the area.....

I am currently in Mississippi but after talking to a friend from there the natives from around North Bay have been netting Marten Lake for the last month, What a sad situation. Mike

If you fish Wickstead Lake you will have a great time with lots of Pickerel to be had, Marten lake is being netted real hard because they shut down netting on Lake Nip, really sad.

I have heard that from friends about the natives/netting going on. Both are great lakes in that area and I do well on both, you just need to know where to go... I'm heading to Marten River right after the long weekend for 9 days and I was a bit worried about the ice off date but spoke to friends today up there and our lake is totally ice free as of yesterday which is awesome... I will post some pic,s I hope.

I fish Lake Wickstead a lot. The lake has changed a lot due to Netting. Still a great lake. Just have to fish it different now Has become a bass lake. I use my 19 ft bass boat on it. If you have any ? ask away I know the lake well been fishing it for 40 years
