Tell me if I am right or wrong... do not list body of water if I am wrong... just say "you are wrong" if you are 100% sure.
Zone 16 on the regs states whitefish limits are 12. Simcoe has an exception and limit is 2 for Sports. Tell me why they would not just have the 2 for limit for all of Zone 16 since Simcoe is the only body of water with whitefish. Am I wrong and there is another body of water in zone 16 with whitefish? This to me is like a set-up for people to fail. If they know that in zone 16 that Simcoe is the only lake that has this fish.... why even list the 12 limit?

Since Simcoe is part of the Trent-Severn Waterway, any lake connected to it could potentially hold whitefish.
Potentially yes, however he's asking about zone 16 specifically. 16 ends at the north end of couchiching and roughly at the east boundry of simcoe, so the other Kawartha lakes aren't park of the question.

You expected me to notice that? How sober do you think I am?!

I think this is terrific question and deserving of an answer. I've been puzzled myself in this and never had thought to pose question.
Is it because while in zone 16 - it is treated as if in zone 15?
There are other abnomilies / differences with Simcoe and zone 16 - can't recall them - is it the herring?
Thanks for asking the question!!! Hope to read some good explanations!

Doesn't Zone 16 go from Windsor in the west to Pickering in the East Lake Ontario in the south to Tobermory in the North ? With Lake Simcoe as an exception. Some of the smaller lakes in Zone 16 may have whitefish.

Oh you're correct about the area of zone 16, it's whether or not there are any lakes that sustain a whitefish population. I sent F4D a copy of this earlier, it comes from a Gov't website: Lake Simcoe is located about one hour north of Toronto within Fisheries Management Zone (FMZ) 16. Lake Simcoe is the most southerly inland lake in Ontario that supports lake trout and lake whitefish fisheries.

Any known fact of body of water other than Simcoe in Zone 16 that have whitefish? Sparrow Lake does not have whitefish. I am looking for facts so I can send an e-mail to MNR for an explanation for the set limit of 12 whitefish in the Zone 16.
I am not looking to stir the pot with anyone or any organization. I strongly believe that preventing accidents is the way to go. If it is obvious that Simcoe in Zone 16 is the only Lake with WF than it is best to have that printed for all of Zone 16 to simplify. Not hard for them to do if it is the right thing to do.
Also I want to see if I can convince them to change it in the future regulations. This will only work if what I think is true. But like I said.... I might be missing a body of water in Zone 16 that have WF and that people can keep 12.
