Well, there are several kms of the Notty in town still open (e.g in the PP) if someone wants to give it a crack. The slush is still flushing out today, but maybe tomorrow?

Hi Knuguy This Fall, I didn't fish the mouth, rather I was fishing from shore North of Collingwood. The first time I fished the mouth of the Notty was a week ago Friday. There was lots of snow and ice on shore, but the last 300-400yds of the river was ice free and quite fishable. I didn't get any hits and neither did anyone else fishing there. In prior years when the weather is like this I have done OK at the mouth. When I was over there, I was talking to one of the people who fishes the mouth all the time and he said the fishing has not been good since early December, when we had that big rainfall which put the level of the river way up. I may go Friday, not sure yet. SDC

Hey Knuguy Thanks for the report. It got me thinking-maybe I should go and try my shore spot tomorrow. Looked OK until I checked the wind forecast, 20KPH out of the SE, so right on shore and right in your face. I have things to keep me busy at home and I will definitely be warmer than standing on shore. With on shore winds and waves, it's hard to wade out to cast out to where the fish tend to be. SDC

Hey Knuguy You can do that at Craigleith, as the bottom drops off quickly with the rock ledges. Where I go it is a rock and sand bottom that drops off gradually and you need to wade out so as to be able to "fire" your bait out as far as possible so as to get into water 6 or 7 ft deep where the fish tend to be.On calm days when you can wade out the max. distance and cast, by the time you come back to shore, you have about 300ft or more of line out. It is easier and more comfortable fishing at Craigleith, but I have had much more luck where I go than I have had at Craigleith over the years. SDC
