I know its winter and everyone is thinking of ice fishing but with all this mild winter we're going to have an early spring. Thought I would share with everyone a picture of a 19 pound channel cat that I caught last year.

The notty is so much closer to home and our hunting property in the blue mountains!!! I've wanted to try there for cats since I moved this way.... Are you fishing from a boat or shore? Do you target them? Maybe we could hook up on my boat in the spring there to go after them! 19 pounds is a giant!!!!

Hi Krae, i caught quite a few from shore using an egg sinker and dew worms at the end of June. We can hook up and trade a few stories and maybe do some hunting and fishing. How did you make out deer hunting this year? I hunt in the Mansfield area for turkeys and deer.
As for eating them, my buddy puts them on the BBQ. The smaller ones, I fillet them, roll them in Italian bread crumbs and fry them. They're abit oily but I love eating fish.

Hey Tanzanite88, that sounds good to me... We usually use cut bait or minnows In march April and worms in the June through summer! Is that your biggest? It's huge! I think our best was 14 lbs with lots of tens in the mix... Deer hunting wasn't so good for us... Had lots in the trail cams through august and September but they disappeared when archery season started.... Didn't do any better in Apsley other then a running bear that got way to close... Thankfully he was more scared of me!!! We both have our turkey license but have yet to try for them.... Maybe this year!
About eating them... I kept a few small ones a few years ago to try... They were caught in summer and far up stream... Probably resident fish and found them a little weedy tasting... Have been scared to try since... I get my feed in simcoe perch when I get the cravings for fish! I would definitely try an early season g-bay cat though
