I'll be happy to oblige with more reports! So far, I've only been fishing twice off the dock after supper for a short while; each time, I caught a walleye, both just shy of 18". I'll send more pics once I start catching more.
Greenhead, you were asking how I got the job. Last summer, we paddled past the lodge and were invited in for lunch. During the course of conversation, the owner's wife mentioned that it was often difficult to find help as few people were interested in spending four and a half months in a remote location. I jokingly asked, "Would you ever consider hiring an old retired guy?" She chuckled but it was enough for me to send the owner a letter in January and here I am. During the winter, I did look online at employment opportunities and found several. One of the dockhands here found the job advertised on Kajiji two years ago. Go for it!

What is the age mix of those working? University students? Or variou ages. The one picture oof sledding the boat - looked like 'older' guys - as you described - working at a hunting camp . . .

Most of the men in the photo are middle-aged. They are friends of the owner who come up for opening and closing weeks to help out and do some fishing -- not a bad deal! There are seven of us working at the lodge. The two dockhands are younger guys in their late teens/early twenties. The manager is, I'm guessing in her 30's and the housekeeper is in her 50's. The owner is in his 50's and, I'm guessing that his wife is in her 40's. I'm the "old guy" up here.
I've only managed to fish very briefly from the dock on two occasions after dinner -- once last evening in the snow and then again this evening. Caught a walleye each time, both just shy of 18" and caught on a jig tipped with a curly tail grub. I'll post some photos when I catch something more sizeable.
