Hey everyone I hope your having a great start to the softwater season. Mine has been unusually slow on the quinte but i have faith that things will pick up. I have got a July fishing trip planned with the girlfriend to head way up north and fish Lower and Upper twin lakes for walleye and pike. I usually bottom bounce with worm harnesses but I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas for my trip. I am going to buy some jointed rapalas and i was even thinking of getting floating jig heads and rigging them up. Anyone with any suggestions would be greatly appreciated since i have a week up there and would like to try some new techniques. Thanks Redbeard

The live target shad is a great crankbait to troll. I use the 5-7 i think it is. Works great. Cant buy them now, but storm thundercranks are also a great lure if you have one in your box. Try eriederies, they also work great. Leave a bit of your worm trailing, gives a nice little extra action. Try a glow bobber with minnow at night time if your camped on the water, can make yourself or buy one of the LED bobbers like ive got, works pretty well actually. only issue is i havent yet been able to locate a tackle shop who sells the replacement leds. So i always have to buy a new set. Try casting small jigs, white is usually a great go to colour. The double mistertwisters work very well also. Theres many different and techniques to choose from. Goodluck on your trip, and dont be afraid to try something your not sure will work, you never know!

Here on Meta Lake in the same area, the go-to walleye rig is a Rattlin No-Snagg Lindy rig: a sliding cylindrical type sinker, swivel, 2'-3' leader, and a floating minnow. Preferred colours are reds and pinks for early season, yellows and greens for mid-summer, and darker colours such as perch or fire tiger for later in the season. Jerkbaits, spoons, and crankbaits work very well as well. Colours for spoons included yellow or gold; five of diamonds work really well. Of course, you can't go wrong with jigs and minnows or curly tail grubs either. Each lake will be a bit different but this is what works here. You should have a great trip -- it's fantastic up here!
