Took an afternoon trip to balsam yesterday, being my first time fishing there, I had no idea just how windy that lake can be! In a 14 ft aluminum, it was tough. But in the end we caught 7 walleye, and a pretty decent pike. All but one of the walleye were in slot size. The biggest, and first one that I caught weighed in at 5 lbs: my pb walleye so far! After that trip I can say that I'm hooked, quite a fun trip for me and I'm glad we stuck out the contidtions
After this photo I realise that I close my eyes in almost every picture...

Well done with the walleye!

All these lakes can be challenging if the wind blowing hard in the right direction. Perhaps the rough surface makes it better opportunity to catch the walleye?

Thanks

My thoughts as well, I think it disrupts the sunlight enough so the walleye begin feeding. And no it was out of slot I believe.

Great job on the pb! Was it windy enough that you were still feeling it after you got home?

Nice walleye LNZboy & congrats on the PB walleye.

That's called walleye chop, but ya... It can be hard on the body during and after fishing.
Wobbly dock legs...

Nice haul beers

North or south winds suck on balsam , no where to really seek shelter

Is that a tiger musky being held by the angler on the left? Sure doesn't look like a pike....

The wind is bad there all the time but watch out for those big rocks just under the surface some are marked and some are not.
