step dad and I are planning on going on a fishing trip this year instead of the golf trip we do annually. We wouldn't mind travelling 2 hours max 3 as it would be a weekend trip. We are looking for massive bass and if that isn't available, big pike. We are located in durham region and if anyone knows a really good bass/pike lake it would be greatly appreciated.

Balsam is good for both. And there are a couple of places to stay and rent boats if needed. People are friendly and you can always find someone to give you some hot spots.

Peninsula Lake in the Muskoka area has both big bass and pike, you should catch a bunch 2-3lbs and 4-5lbers aren't rare(bass). According to google maps it is 2hrs 42min away.
