Two weeks ago I took the mom and son (11 years) out fishing - posted the results.
Tonight we did it again and added the father who hasn't "fished much".
Based on my feed back from last session - son had new and taller rod that was working correctly - made a world of difference to his casting and general engagement.
We launched from Harris Boat works just after 7pm. Strong winds from NW. Not many boats on water. During the drive to launch I explained the worm harness concept and how we would apply this evening.
After boat ride to start location (same as most my other posts) we rig up three rods. 2 of mine one of theirs. We trolled . . .
After many taps and missing worms (I loaded the worms) the mother catches a fish! She slowly gets in into boat - 15.5" walleye! She's thrilled!
We finish the trolling - wind had changed more from north - and motored back to my goto location as sun went down. Another boat was there. He recognized me from about three weeks ago! He tells us some of his success stories - one of which was a 30" walleye caught nearby . . .
Four of us fished the location with jigs and trigger-x. NOTHING tonight.
Nearly ready to pack it in - when the mother shouted she had caught some weed again or rock on bottom. Turns out she had hooked up a 14" catfish!!!
That had us stay out a while longer . . .
At my place I cleaned the walleye and catfish. Walleye was quick and easy. But the cat fish was slow - not used to them - related to cleaning the ling . . .
Weighed the fillets at 12 Oz.
Great fun!!!
More to follow on the catfish . . .
