Out on Rice. Rod in holder slowly trolling across Rice Lake. Feeding the fish worms - which is good - they're in the area!

So far 1 walleye release at less than 14". No picture . . .

So far the fish are doing well. I'm close to running out of worms. Landed sunfish.

5 minutes ago had heavy hit and large weight one line - then nothing! Teeth either cut leader or not failed on the connection to harness . . .

New (and heavier?) Harness on line back in water.

Quite the wind and waves - like most other nights I've been out.

Water temp is 75 to 76 F.

Maybe meeting LSO member shortly . . .

Met LSO member Swannie and his son and guest - they'd ended the night better than me with Swannie landing a 5 lb bass. huge.

Ran out of worms at sunset. The harness I switched to was too heavy for speed and set up so ended up dragging in the weeds.

Went over to my one place that has been producing for me this year - results of nothing.

The wind had died down - the bugs came out - mostly non biting - all very annoying especially when turned on headlamp . . .

Thanks again Shagdrrotten6969 for the tips on worm harness. I likely will try changing a bit - perhaps starting with hook size. Also try some trigger-x walleye worms - on a double hook harness? If using heavier set up could trill faster and cover more lake . . .

Who ever gave me the suggestion of using towel under the worms - great suggestion! Towel used was on from Canadian Tire. Somewhat 'sticky' and sticks to the carpet on walls of boat. Not so likely to blow away in the wind knocking over the worms . . .

Thanks

Well, you keep on trying I'll give you that !

Truck was getting brakes done Sunday so didn't get out, working tonight so decided to stay in for a change as well.

Neighbour limited out on Thursday again towards Bewdley anchoring and drifting victor spoons, erie dearies, chartreuse and orange.

X 2 on the towel trick. I use it in the canoe it cut down on the mess. Never can have enough worms.

Take the worms out of the dirt for your next trip out on the water then back in the dirt at shore ... Give the worms a quick dunk in the water to get rid of soil ,I use a old strainer then put them in your container with wet towel/rag on top ... No more mess!!! They last All day like this as long as they stay cool......

Cheers fishmagnet

That's also a good idea - to rinse first (not with chlorinated tap water . . . )!!!

I'll give that a try sometime as well. Often I'm buying worms on the run so tend to not have time to prep at home.

Thanks
