Yes I have talked to customer service. They did get back to me right away which was nice, however they want me to send it to one of their service centers and have it fixed on my dime. Think I'll save myself the headache and switch back to my old faithful lowrance until I can afford a new one.

Funny thing was I told my friend about the issues I was having with my unit and he basically had the exact same problem with his Humminbird. He went out and bought a Lowrance and has never had a problem...

I have the 346 DI. I know its one of their cheaper models but it should work properly for more than a year....

Too bad because I did like the unit.....

There is going to be the risk of problems with every fish finder from every manufacturer. So buy the fish finder you can afford and the one that will suit you best for the type of fishing you do and hope you don't get a bad apple.

Sounds like the problem I had with my 600 series humminbird finder with down image. Screen would freeze up or shut off or low voltage would come on. I fixed the problem by direct connecting the power to the battery works fine ever since. If you hook up to your under console wirering chances are it will act up. I have a 500 series as well basic humminbird and it worked fine using existing power wire under console but when I added the 600 series it would act up. I would also recomended 18 guage wire or better I used 16 on mine. Don't forget to add an inline fuse to the positive. Just my experience but hopefully it helps or eases your mind a bit if you go with a hummingbird. I have only used these finders so have no experience on lorance finders. Sorry can't help with a comparison there, good luck

Thanks

Cdn tire has an Elite 5 on clearance for $350, but cant seem to locate the 3 that say they have? I am waiting for a call to see if they find one.... I think it is a pretty good deal. Then I just gotta see if i can find a deal on a navionics chip? I'm cheap and hate paying full price for anything!!!!

Pulled the trigger on a new Elite 5 chirp with gold card from BPS. Not cheap but it should be good..... I hope!

Rare for me to drop that many bones on a new unit... But after buying used electronics in the past from people who don't care what they are selling. I think it may be best to buy some things new?
