Ive been wondering if lakers bite at night? Anybody have any experience or luck fishing for them at night time, on open waters, not ice fishing?

It's worth a try. I'm pretty sure that they feed at night in the spring. I have a buddy who says he catches them off his dock in May and June. Glow in the dark Cleos and Syclops spoons are the ticket apparently. He's up on the east side of Algonquin though, somewhere near Whitney. Here's hoping he's not telling tales...

lake trout opportunistic eaters. If they have the chance or opportunity to eat something then they will.

Hey, if u get a ling don't be disappointed. They taste amazing. I have caught lakers at night while on the ice. But I'd say at sunup and sundown will be better than pitch black. A full moon may help.

I have caught lakers at night in a Haliburton lake by casting out onto a sandy point. (approx. 15-25 ft of water.)

I used minnows with a slip bell sinker to get the distance out from shore.

Prop the fishing rod up and watch periodically with a flashlight for bites.

I fished in the month of May. As mentioned above; ling will bite as well.
