Hi I moved to Canada from Ireland 5 years ago.have done a lot of fishing in both countries but have yet to catch a musky.done a lot of pike fishing in Ireland with fish up to 30lbs on dead baits like mackerel.has anyone tried this for musky?i have fished the kawarthas (coon lake and buckhorn)and have had a couple of follows on lures(glide baits) but can't seem to hook up..even with figure 8s.i know the fish are there but the waters are very busy and was wondering if anyone knows any more secluded musky lakes within 5 or 6 hours of Toronto that would be a good choice for a week trip?thanks very much

Muaky is known as the fish of a 1000 casts . . .

Myself - I've landed 4 while targetting other species. Likely a few I've hooked up to and lost the terminal tackle . . .

Suggestion could be to not focus so much on the musky rather other species - and you'll hook a few . . .

They're a rare fish for sure. Like bluenote said the fish of 1000 casts but I wouldn't even doubt if it's actually more casts as I'm pretty sure I cast that much every trip lol.

Any way I'd say try lake st Clair. It's within your driving time frame and they seem to have the consistent numbers although I've never been myself.

Lake St clair is a really good choice for Musky but right now its a bit slow late fall is the time to go for MONSTER musky 50+inch and lbs

I heard the fish of 10,000 casts lol and i don't know of many around here, I know balsam lake has some. If money isn't a problem though and you want a week trip I suggest going up to lake of the woods. Probably the best pike and musky fishing in Ontario even though it's up by the Manitoba border.
