Rain storm just ended - during which I caught 3 fish - 2 walleye at 13" and 17" along with a decent sized cat fish.

Toll today is two walleye released at 13". 1 perch, walleye at 17", and cat fish kept.

Wind was hard from SSW until storm. Now gentler wind from west.

Water temp 74 F.

Couldn't take photos with phone during the rain so will try one now of stern livewell.

QUOTE (fishmagnet @ Jul 25, 2015 - 03:39 pm)
Good job!!! Like there's more storms popping up west of you!!!

Thanks.

I keep watching the west skies and every 20 to 30 minutes look at the phone for the king city radar. Great having LTE service in this area of Lake.

Bring on the rain!!!! Bite has slowed down! From a good point of view - not a single boat that I can see on lake in all directions. Almost like a week day out here. And not as hot with the sun behind the clouds . . .

Thanks

Just landed this beauty at 15".

Wind shifted from S becoming strong again. A few back out in the area . . .

I didn't photo the tiny perch. Amazing how they bite these huge hooks!

Thanks

Third keeper at 16.5"

Getting dark - looks like raining on north side of Lake . . .

Quite the showers.

Wind has stopped - lake nearly flat. Can hear the rain approaching!

Only fish caught (and released) in past hour are two perch like this one.

Calling a day soon. Heading to Harris Boat works on electric while trying worm harness . . .

Rain starting up again so phone going away.

Cleaned up the fish. Took me a little longer than usual for the walleye as tried to implement DRB'S technique.

I didn't have a shorter knife so used my standard Rapala. Would like to try shorter knife for the cuts along back.

Took away the start point of starting on the neck - between the bumps - does that ever make a difference.

Other point - make the cuts on backbone - ON BOTH SIDES - before procedure to take the first fillet off.

Getting better with the cat fish. The skinning is getting easier. And I've now got understanding of taking the fillet off. Different with the rib cage structure / Y bone in most other fish.

While cleaning - thought through the day - six plus hours on boat - sun, rain and wind/waves. I knew that the rain was coming - should have set up the bimi. Yes slightly more sail effect. However would have kept most the rain off me. While did wear rain jacket and pants for first storm - water ran down my head through non water proof hat was wearing for the sun. Later showers I just wore jacket.

Today I noticed no crappie or sunfish! Fishing same area with same harness as yesterday.

The walleyes were a gentle hit - barely noticeable via the braid. After swallowing then felt them as hook set! The one walleye had the hook way down throat . . .

Overall - good afternoon. I think that the storm / rain helped the bite.

Now to do that with wife and daughter on board (without the rain) . . .

Thanks

Nicely done Frank! Was really the perfect weather and technique to have broken out the bimini.

Great report and excellent results...

Unfortunately walleye love wet & gloomy weather..

Full marks for sticking with it during the rains...

PS: Loving the Live Reports and play by play..
