Cleaned up the fish. Took me a little longer than usual for the walleye as tried to implement DRB'S technique.
I didn't have a shorter knife so used my standard Rapala. Would like to try shorter knife for the cuts along back.
Took away the start point of starting on the neck - between the bumps - does that ever make a difference.
Other point - make the cuts on backbone - ON BOTH SIDES - before procedure to take the first fillet off.
Getting better with the cat fish. The skinning is getting easier. And I've now got understanding of taking the fillet off. Different with the rib cage structure / Y bone in most other fish.
While cleaning - thought through the day - six plus hours on boat - sun, rain and wind/waves. I knew that the rain was coming - should have set up the bimi. Yes slightly more sail effect. However would have kept most the rain off me. While did wear rain jacket and pants for first storm - water ran down my head through non water proof hat was wearing for the sun. Later showers I just wore jacket.
Today I noticed no crappie or sunfish! Fishing same area with same harness as yesterday.
The walleyes were a gentle hit - barely noticeable via the braid. After swallowing then felt them as hook set! The one walleye had the hook way down throat . . .
Overall - good afternoon. I think that the storm / rain helped the bite.
Now to do that with wife and daughter on board (without the rain) . . .
Thanks
