After a week of thinking, I decide to upgrade my Edge 55 to Terrova 80lbs 60" iPilot, BP is the highest, LB is 17 something but sold out and have to wait for another shipment, finally, I remember Sail then I gave it a try, the guy told me they have a lot, when I arrive he told me all fishing stuff is 15% off. End up it's the cheapest. Under 17 hundred including tax. Can't wait and change the motor on Saturday, it's lucky I check the connection of my bow fish finder, cause it was done by the dealer, they connect it with the trolling battery, so I just re-wire it by myself.
Sunday, went out with my wife and let her understand why I have to change it. When she saw the functions she was surprise and she love it cause I can use the spot lock function let her fishing with her bobber and I can use this function for Crappie and casting for walleye. Just learn who to use the record a track function, it works amazing. I will use it for walleye trolling in my next trip. So happy to make this investment. Battery life last very long. We fish for 6 hours, the battery still have 3/4. Happy happy.

Well done with your choice!

I'm on third summer with mine - love it. Only have used two functions.

The one function - pilot. Almost every time when moving - I put the pilot on first and point it in the direction to go. Then turn on the motor and adjust speed. When need to change direction I report the motor - nothing could be easier.

The other function I call electronic anchor. Keeps the bow in the wind and generally stay on the same location (gusts make it work).

I bought a second remote . . .

You bought like I did - when on sale at Sail. Price can't be beat!!

You are going to get lots of use out of this - so much fun!

Thanks

We went with the 55 thrust and kind of wishing we went to the 80 lbs. This one works okay but on very windy days it has difficulties keeping the boat anchored with spot lock.

Finances for us were a factor and going from a 12v to 24v would mean another battery (or two if we wanted them to be a matching pair which is recommended) and a new on-board charger which could charge 2 banks. We can usually get in 2 full days of fishing on one charge with the 12v 55lb model.

Overall a great motor and a nice upgrade from our broken Motorguide. Glenn had to manually turn it since the plastic gears were shot after 3 years of use.

I recently got the 55# Terrova and I agree - what a great tool! You can always use more power, but I didn't want to add another battery. My boat is a 16' and I think 55# is sufficient (at least so far).

I got mine at LeBaron and also got the 15% off deal, it was +/- $1650 Tax in. Can't complain. If it lasts long enough it might pay for itself - I've hardly used my outboard since I got it.

If anyone out there is on the fence, go for it. iPilot is awesome.

Thanks guys, I love all the functions and I fish with my friend for Crappie and Walleye today. He likes all the functions that I show him. we spot lock a few Crappie hot spot than we just use the spot lock recall to change the spot every hour. During sunset, we spot lock right outside a weed line in front of a deep drop off for walleye. all under size but lots of fun.

Sorry Kram31, the old one was sold on Saturday.

Congrats! I had a Motorguide Xi5 on my old boat and loved it. My new (2008) Triton came with a Minnkota Maxxum Pro (that is fine in its own right) but once I got used to Virtual Anchor and all of the other amazing functions I am now in the market for either the terrova or xi5. One awesome application is when I netted a big musky was to lock the anchor function on and then take my time releasing the fish boatside without worry of being blown up onto structure.

My one complaint on the xi5 was a little bit of lag between the wireless footpedal and the unit itself. Once I got used to it it was ok but I like the idea of a lag-free wired pedal in the Terrova.

Can't argue with any legit "no tax" deal.

My Terrova (80b/60") is on order. I took a chance ordered it with i-Pilot Link, even though "Lake Master" doesn't have a full Canadian map offering yet.

Since "Lake Master" are the only maps that i-Pilot recognizes (at the moment) it puts Canadians in a tight spot with ordering the link option so you can hook-up to the HB graph.

Guys at BP said that Navionics have made (or have tested) some maps that work with the i-Piot link.
Have you heard anything along those lines?
Just curious?

I did search from internet, people still saying Link still not really ready for Canada because of the Map, that's why I only go with iPilot.
