I am a new member and looking to learn to bass fish and better learn the lake. I have a 19 foot Starcraft Fishmaster. I upgraded from a 16 foot a few years ago and have limited time on the lake. Most of my time has been spent trolling for pike in the 16 footer and fishing for Lakers with the 19 footer on Lake Simcoe.
My rig has a 115 mariner, a 9.9 Honda added last year and a 80 lb. Thrust I Pilot Minnkota this year.
I am not looking to steal anyone's favourite fishing holes or secrets just wanting to learn how and where to bass fish as I have never targeted this species and would welcome all knowledge that could be provided about the other fish available.
I am willing to pay a good guide who can share some of his knowledge. I would like to use my own boat and fuel to save some cost but I do not have the necessary equipment or tackle to be effective.
I would be open to a guide with his own equipment if necessary and the cost was resonable. It would be myself and my wife on board.
I live in Innisfil 5 minutes from the 8th line dock and am on holidays next week.August 10.

Save your money and do some research on bass fishing as well as lures.... Work the shore lines looking for grass and weed lines also any humps coming up shallow and work the edges of the humps. Come into these areas quietly and make long casts so the bass don't see you... Cheers fishmagnet!!!

Thanks for the information but weighing the cost of tackle and lost fuel and time on a lake as big as Simcoe, a good guide can be cheap.
As stated I have spent all my time pulling spoons on Simcoe and would like to take full advantage of the magnificent bass opportunities that Simcoe has to offer.
I am not originally from this area and due to work demands have limited time available.
I have had success in the past hiring guides or charters who were willing to help a newbie with their local knowledge and am looking for the same on Simcoe.

I've spent thousands of dollars in my lifetime learning to fish and it was worth every penny......its sounds like you have all the equipment [more than most fishermen] and love the sport so go out there and spend some time.....its more satisfying [i think] when you find them yourself and hopefully 20 boats won't show up beside you. that Lowrance elite 7 you have will show ya all you need to know about Lake Simcoe...Good Luck!!
