I am mounting a Big Jon electric to the Port side at the stern of my new boat. I had them on a stern bar last time but downsizing to just one rigger on the new boat. last had riggers about 15 years ago so cant remember much about fishing them ... need to learn all over again.

mount is easy and cheap to go over stern with flush 4 inch mount. however no rotation ability.

mount on 12 inch ped with rotation base. more money ... lots more and I want the ped off each time I put boat cover on.

so what Im asking I guess ... any difference in trolling off the back vs side ? I have a 91 inch beam on 16 foot side console with 60 hp. lots of clearance from engine to port side of boat

Wouldnt go out the back unless your Jons have 4ft arms...if they do, mount wherever is most comfortable to get at....if you can get to it easily and are only mounting one, I would mount 2 or 4 ft at an angle from back corner...just remember whatever you have and wherever you mount to keep in mind if you get forced into a tight turn from other boats or reef coming up quickly the possibility of getting cable in prop....that is no fun !!!

Mount the rigger permanently to the ped.
Use thumb screws to mount ped to flush mount.
