Hi guys im really big fun of cooked crayfish and would like to know best spots and times for trapping crayfish in lake simcoe. I read somwhere that best time is April, is it to late for crayfish in August or September? Any advice on crayfish trapping is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

The rusty crayfish is the now plentiful species.They are slow up to early july and then move deeper for cooler water.They are an invasive species from southern U S A,but grow big,plenty of them and taste great

german neighbour used to trap them into net with liver or fishguts, did that off the dock there all summer, big ones to like 7, 8 inchers, boil up on fire, lil garlic butter, better then PEI lobster

Thanks for replys guys. Do they still coming close to the shor at night for food after they move deeper for cold water? And if no how deep should i throw the traps to catch em?

I was out on my dock on Couchiching last weekend, and stopped counting when I hit 50. They're not deep either. The water off my dock is knee deep on me, and I'm only 6'1".
