> how to mount canon easy troll riggers

i got some canon easy troll down riggers. i need advice on how to put them on the boat. i have the mount but do i need special bolts or screws. i have a prince craft 178 pro aluminium so can i put then right on the gunnel. any advice will help

If you can, put backing plates (aluminum or plywood 1/2") wider and longer under the gunnels to stiffen it up. The longer your down rigger arms, the more torque is applied when bouncing up and down. Try to hold a 10 lb cannon ball at arms length for a bit and you will get the idea. Stainless 1/4" bolts with 1" stainless fender washers underneath. Use nyloc nuts, they don't rattle loose. Every now and then check and see if things need snugging up.
