I start to get really excited for ice fishing and start checking the new gear, ice articles, ice videos, but at the same time it is some of the best (albeit chilly) open water fishing of the year... Hopefully things ice over the day after I put the boat away for the winter

Am I jumping the gun... You bet! Call me crazy but I prefer ice fishing over soft water fishing. Hauling a portable ice hut and auger around is much easier than hooking up the boat! Come-on deep freeze!!!
