Guys.

Last Saturday I sealed my driveway. I had my boat hooked on to my truck and had to leave it parked on the road, my Sons car was behind it. It was parked directly under a street light with cover on in from of my house.Plan was to leave it on street over night then get up and headed out to try and nail some big smallmouth in K bay.
Headed out in the morning, got on lake, opened my rod locker and it is EMPTY!.
Thieves in the night. I'm sure I had it locked guess I was mistaken.
About 1000 bucks worth gone I figure.
If any one can help me It would've greatly appreciated.

3 Lews bait casters
1 Shamino Stradic on a fen wick rod
1 Quantem Resource rod and real.

Just to name a few.

Any info pm me please.

sorry about your loss.

On top of advises already given above, I'd do some search on kijiji where your rods and reels might be laying around...

Put boat out again next weekend night - empty of rods / reels and shiny stuff.

Set up a game camera or two to record. You never know - could be someone relatively local - very local.

Not sure width of your road - perhaps game camera on other side (ask neighbour first . . .)

Do you have something high on truck that could hold a game camera?

Obviously all is nothing if no cameras. Could get license plate for police.

Trust you reported to police? Sure - not much they may able to do for this one event - however may bring future patrols . . .

This week was your boat in road - next year could be your boat in driveway - they know what you like to use . . .

Maybe a security camera for your driveway is next?

That's unfortunate.we work hard to buy are gear and these sh..bags come along and steal it .I leave all my gear in the house the night before I head out and load it up in the morning. It takes some extra time but at least I know it's going to be there in the morning.i don't even let anybody see me taking my guns in and out of the house.i hope some how you get back.😡

where do you live, so that those on the board that live near you know to lock up their stuff and keep an eye out for people who look out of place in your area?

Good luck finding the scumbags!

That SUX..... especially finding out on the WATER!

Good luck man.

Buddy in my area had his stuff taken out of his boat in his driveway, so I always put it in the garage.

It would be cool if the bait and catch tricxk worked with the video camera.

Thanks so much guys for the support. I live in the north west end of Barrie, between Cundles and Livingston, so if that's were some of u live,be warned
On a more positive side I told Tom at the Bait Bucket in Barrie my story and he offer me 25% of all Lews gear, love that tuff. Also,in the market for a good security cam for driveway. Any recommendations?

Costco has some camera that are pretty easy to install and not bad in price.

Hey ,I live in the same area. I put up a fake camera with a flashing light on it, think I got it at princess auto. My boat is in the driveway and haven't had any issues so far. Sorry about losing you stuff , I'm happy my rod lockers lock.

Costco is good.

A couple quick points - maybe not for but for others - ensure install the recorder in a place not easily accessible - so thst thieves can't take away their own evidence . . .

One camera (obvious) or two watching the driveway. Another camera (discrete) watching the other cameras.

The lower the camera installed - the easier capture face. Easier to obstruct camera. If too high then may only get picture of baseball hat hiding face.

Thanks

don't need to go all out crazy for these pity thieves. A couple of cameras high enough that they cannot reach or swing a baseball bat at is more then enough. If it is a regular thing (I sure hope not), then you need to call certain professionals to help.

I think in your case here you are trying to prevent rather than looking to convict someone. Cameras sold at Costco or Best Buy may not be good enough for evidence in courts as the quality may not pick up the car plates or clear facial.

Ask yourself before the hot head goes all crazy and blow the wallet.
-What are you trying to achieve?
-What are you protecting?
-how much are you willing to spend to prevent pity thieves?
