usually around this time of year they come in pretty thick around the docks area near the beach. You might be lucky and see the guys who are licensed to commercial harvest minnows there and will give you a bunch if you ask.

I catch them in creeks with a dip net when they come in. Find any small creek that enters the lake and when they are in you can't miss them. Checked yesterday but water level way to low still where I usually get then.

If I were shore fishing this time of year around the marina dock area in Downtown Barrie, I might be able to get some minnow with a net. But I wouldn't want to drive all the way up there just for no more than 10 dozens (120) minnows (I have no commercial bait fish harvesting license:-)
