Having read the other thread about ice fishing and seeing a post about a fellow member bringing home some new gloves it reminded me that i need to buy a new pair, and am looking for a good pair. My last pair were frabils (which i lost unfortunately). These gloves were very warm but were not as water proof as i thought theyd be. Yes they kept my hands very warm, but they were still always soaked, and if i spent a good amount of time outside the hut they would freeze from being constantly soaked. In search of a good pair that will keep my hands warm, and dry. Thanks everyone

Try to find a pair of Columbia Whirlibird gloves. They are waterproof and breathable. The best cold weather waterproof gloves I have ever owned. They are not cheap though. The pair I have now are going into the fifth season so they wear reasonably well. MB

I dont use them while fishing unless im outside of my hut, just tired of having to dry them for a half an hour over my heater before i head back. Would like to remove that step lol.

I'm not always wearing gloves when on ice. I'm usually dressed well and moving around that am too hot. If working on pulling fish through hole - almost never wearing mitts/gloves. If hands get wet / cold only then will warm up via mitts including heater pack.
When wearing gloves - I'm usually driving Argo open top - or extremely windy. Or sitting still. I've been using the army type. Mine are stored and not available now to show pictures. Essentially an outer shell mitt. With spot for three fingers, one finger and thumb. Gun gloves. The back has a fur - for wiping nose. Inside I wear five finger knitted cotter gloves - tight. I can drop the shell and use the gloves for more dexterity.
I think these gloves are great. Mitts are attached together with cord that runs behind back of neck - so thst they stay with you if you shake them off quickly. I bought my pair from the army surplus store on the lake in Oshawa (name alludes me just now) . . .
Next week or so will add photo.
Good question. Hope we have more discussion on good equipment for ice fishing in the next couple of months.

I find when hands are wet it's tuff to put gloves on that's why I use a mitt style as well. I also load each mitt with a hand warmer, the ones you shake up... Keeps the hand toasty...
