Want to hear from you fishing Penetang, Midland, Waubashene.....what's the news?? Who's catching what?? Good ice in Midland, about 10 inches. Have seen some Herring caught, small perch, a few Whitefish hanging around. No sign of Pike or Pickerel tho. The ice road out to Midland Pt. is being marked with Christmas trees.

I was out on pentang bay this afternoon, I never saw any fish on the ice but I did hear of some pike being caught. I'm new to the area and have never ice fished Georgian bay before but I'm out there as much as i can be...if I have any luck I will be sure to post.

I was out today with a buddy and managed a couple fish around pentane and midland. We fished 15 fow to 40 fow and managed a herring some perch and one pike. It was a good day to be out..fish were caught on a Williams and minnows. I will be back at it tomorrow..
Hi T-88, sorry for delay. Been out on the Bay in different spots, no fish for me. I see some perch, herring & the odd pike being caught. Nice days for it. Far as Crappie, I hear the small lakes up by P. Severn, Parry Snd. are the places for them. Have not gone out to explore yet. I'm new here too, so still trying to learn more by meeting folks out on the ice. Let us know how you're doing.......
Howdy Piercer, for herring, far as I know, use lures or jigs with smaller hooks, also the lure should be smaller. Tip with piece of minnow, grub. Smaller jig motions with fairly long pause. Other suggestions out there?? I could be all wet............Blackjack

I have fished all over the place from pentang bay to midland bay and haven't been doing very well at all!! I dont live far from the lake so I burn out there on the sled fairly often but being new to the area I am struggling to find fish. If you guys see a white Polaris 440 out there and a blue clam stop by.

Hey ; My go to bait for herring is a williams, silver or half &half (doesnt seem to matter. Take all hooks off the lure, Tie a piece of mono or floro 5-10'' to the bottom ring fasten a small treble (sz 10-12) to line ,tie a pearl to the center of the treble.... Deadly, jig aggressively above the herring..caught herring all over ont on this rig....good luck..bent rods

I agree with you Steelheader but I leave the bottom treble hook on it as lake trout will hit the williams. From time to time the line with the pearl will need to be untangled from the treble hook. I've caught herring, whitfish and lake trout this way.

Hi Tanz;.. I've found that leaving the treble on the lure creates continual tangles with the pearl treble ...and have caught lots of trout and whities on the pearl... .If you find two hooks works for you ,go for it...bent rods
