2 man insulated flip hut, Clam,frabill or Eskimo?

I'm in the market for a 2 man insulated flip hut but I was hoping to get some input from some people that have owned them before. I am trying to get a small 2 man as it will be going on the back of the sled so weight and size needs to be considered. Right now I am leaning towards and frabill trekker Dlx. The price seems to be decent and the size and weight is good. Does anyone have any opinions of any of the huts mentioned?

I use a clam Nanook shack. I love it. Takes no time to set up lots of room, heats up quick. The material is very strong too no holes in mine and its 5 years old.

One thing I must say is what ever one you purchase MAKE SURE YOU BUY A COVER for traveling.
It took me one trip out on the lake to realize I needed a cover. Nothing worse then snow and slush packed into the sleigh all over your equipment.

Last year I went from my micro 1 man Clam to a 2 man Otter - fully insulated.

Bought both from Gagnon's in Oshawa - the clam about 5 years ago. The are no longer selling Clam. Focused on the Otter.

Poles, space, quality and removable sets. Can even purchase a third seat as I did (Mom, Dad, and daughter). As a family can now easily fit in.

You mention looking for smaller size - my recommendation is to go big. With two adults - the extra space helps. Can have large Mr. Buddy and 20 lb tank inside . . .

If near Sail - check out their product line up for the upcoming season - no where near the Otter quality . . .

And with the large Otter I started using last year - when by myself - I sleep in it - oboe the ice! Last year I did two single nights and one two nights (after the fresh water cod).

Consider pulling hut behind you with tow bar - easier to change locations if don't have to lift onto sled . . .

Are these any good for walkers?

Maybe for a short distance if the bottom is waxed. They are heavy but definitely better than a clam. The price tag will reflect that though.

Yes I am looking for a 2 man flip as well. Last year there was one at Cabela's that was about 55 LBS that was an okay weight to pull but they ran out when I was there.

Looking for something under 60LBS for walking and at times towing when ice is safe.

Ct has frabill trekker 2 on clearance. $419. You could add Reflectix. Midland has 1 in stock. I have a frabill recon. Great little 1 man. And their customer service has been good. Got replacement windows no questions asked.

For walking you can not beat a smitty sled .I used one last year and it was super easy pulling on ice ,look around for info on building sled, real easy to do and inexpensive,

If you're mostly walking then get the ones with the sled built-in. Otherwise, base camp is my choice

If your a walker,no matter what you choose ,a smitty is a must.
