glen echo cottages

hey everyone after reading all the post seems like the fishing is pretty hot right now on lake nipissing .. im heading up to Glen Echo Cottages and rented an ice bungalow on jan 17 th to jan 20th just wondering if anyone has had sucess there or if anyone is going to be there that week ???

Went there about 10 years ago, and the fishing was slow for us. His huts were just at the junction between callander bay and the main lake. the huts were within 100 yds of the shore. We were in about 12 -15 feet of water. However my son and his friend walked about 1/2 mile out from there after the sun had set and they caught 4 walleye in a 1/2 hour. It is quite early yet in the season so you might be okay. If the fishing is slow and the weather is nice I would suggest that you go out a ways. The operators are also new so I don't know if they place the huts in a different area. Good luck and let us know how you did. We[8 of us] will be fishing with sandybay cottages from the 16-19.

Try and read as much a you can about ice fishing on Nip and see which places are mentioned the most...and or the least .

Do as much research on any operator as possible before booking with them.

I'm not saying they are bad, but it is under new ownership as stated.....hopefully your outing will be awesome fo you.

I've stayed there 2 years back. The fishing was slow but thats probably my fault more than the ice hut operators haha. The huts were in great shape and Scott the new owned does not drop u on 12-15 ft. I think right now his huts are about 24 ft. His huts are usually very close to Rob Hyatts.

Well we made it back from out first trip ever to Callander Bay , and all I have to say is AWSOME ... We heard about the big storm that was gonna blow though on Tuesday up near hurtsville and north bay so we left early in the morning around 4 am. We made it to Glen Echo around 8:30 after stoping for breakfast... Checked in and the owner Scott took us to our hut tolds us what we needed to know . Finally after this long waiting game we've bin playing this trip finally happend . It didnt take long for us to get in to the fish .... we were catching fish though out all 3 days and were very happy with what we caught ... Total fish caught were 2 Pike 22" and a 24'' . We got lots perch , i lost count .Our biggest one was almost 13'' a BEAST . The pickeral wern't coming around alot we got 2 under the slots size ( dinner tonight ) and one about 7 " .. As for Ciscos we got about 5 they were decent size .All and all we had a wicked time and the people that work there are super nice , i can't say enough about them. The pictures will come soon when i get them from my buddy . I cant wait to go back next year .

Glad you had success...
I stayed at Glen Echo with a large group from the 20th until the 22nd and had very limited success with nearly every set up possible. the group had a total of 3 walleye and 1 perch caught all weekend. It was a good time out with the boys, but the fishing was horrible
