Just wondering about average ATV insurance costs. I have bought a 1000cc bike and most companies don't want to touch it. It doesnt help I have a crappy driving record. Let me know size of bike, company insurance is with and yearly cost. Really appreciate any tips.

My polaris 500 is costing me about $300 a year, but my son bought a scrambler 850 and his insurance company wouldn't touch it. He had to go to a separate company and their rate was about $800. Just keep checking different companies to get your best price.

2012 Honda Foreman 500 4x4 I am with Cooperators and pay 33$ month; When insuring the quaqd I had to pay for a full year, they would not allow me to insure it for 5 months and then take the insurance off. Full year or nothing.
My previous insurance company would not insure my quad and when I purchased the quad several companies did not even have the ability to insure me as they did not cover quads or snowmobiles.
However, I am 40 and have no driving infractions in the last 3 years.

Sometimes it really pays to research before you buy. Then it won't bite you in the south end. That goes when people were buying 2 UPs and SxS, not legal on the roads or certain trails and then crying. A number of areas now allow them down the side of the road, etc, but some trail don't.

But before you jump all over the cheaper insurance. Compare apples with apples. Be clear on the intent of the use and what you want them to cover and have it in writing. For me it was important they cover the unit if it ends up at the bottom of the lake and they cover the recovery cost to retrieve it out of the lake. Just having them make that clear to you also gives you the piece of mind when you are out there. If she ends up sinking... don't hold on to the rack! Let her go and worry later!
850 CC - 2012 --- State Farm -- about $400 a year.

My experience better off keeping sled or atv 600cc or under. insurance can sky rocket after that as you found out the hard way. It really is a pain for the responsible drivers who just want the power. Doesn't necassarily mean you are going to drive like a lunatic.

I pay $310 a year through a work plan that is discounted . This insures my 2005 yamaha bruin 350 and my 1998 Polaris Indy touring 500cc sled. Both machines are considered pretty low risk insurance wise I believe, and my driving record is excellent.
