It isnt yet winter. But fall has come and gone. Ive been trying to fish steelhead to keep me buisy till the ice arrives but when it hasnt heavily rained in weeks what do you do? Im thinking I may have put the boat away too early . So, im making this topic for myself and others who are also having a rough time holding out the november lull. What do you fish for? Where do you go?

I feel ya'. Now that I've had my last kick at the can for muskies it seems I have nothing to fish for. In my area the steelheads and browns are very popular and easy to find in numbers but I don't really care for fishing shoulder to shoulder and tangling with guys that are trying to fish the same drift every five casts. I here the smallies in the Niagara run a really nice size this time of year, maybe I'll go for them if they're still in season, have to double check though.

I haven't winterized the boat yet and plan to keep her going through the month since the weather is so warm. Probably just stick to panfish on cooks or the kawarthas. December is going to be hard though as there won't be ice, and my boat insurance only covers through november. Will probably try hitting the streams then. Cold weather may help reduce the crowds on the streams.

I can't believe a lot of you put your boats away before the ice hits. I will admit fishing has SUCKED since October for me, but the few fish I've caught have been even more appreciated because of that! A little secret . . . boats float in cold water too. AND, marinas will still accept money from you to winterize your boat after the first snowfall. Nothing better than being the only one on the water! Maybe I should keep this to myself?

Yea , put the boat to bed a couple of weeks ago.good time to sort out gear and get ready for next year. Getting my ice fishing stuff ready to go. On a sad note doing lots of honey do stuff I blew off the last few months.

I agree many times have been the only boat on a lake with the snow falling kind of peaceful. And the fishing can be non stop. Only problem is alot of snow equalls a hard time getting the boat out of the water. Come prepared bring a snow shovel. It usually doesent stick to the wet ramps but just in case.
