Hi everyone,
Sharing our weekend fishing report.
Based on the winds predicted for Saturday, we decided to fish the Pefferlaw/Port Bolster area. Launched at first light. I was very excited when we started marking bait and fish right away. We setup away from the pack of boats and started fishing. Action was good, size was not. We continued to move around, including fishing with the pack. We also poked around the north side of Georgina Island, hoping to find fish there, but found none. Water temp was 51ish. Quantity of fish for the day was good, size was not.
Based on NW winds predicted for Sunday, we decided to fish the western side of Cooks to stay out of the winds. Launched out of Monte Reno early. Saw several boats out, but not much action seen nor found. Looked like the area was turning over as there was much sediment and floating debris. Water temp was 54ish. We pulled the boat about noon and decided to head over to Barrie and see what we could make of the rest of the day. Talked to fellow Lund guy (2025 Tyee with Merc’s) launching at Monte Reno as we were leaving. Sounded like he was in the Bass Tourney that was cancelled. He gave us some pointers for Barrie perch areas. Thanks again for those tips if you read this or if you know the guy, pass on my thanks to him.
Headed to Barrie and found perch right away in front of the marina area. Lots of dinks but also some nice keepers. Shore guys were doing very well, especially one guy in particular who seemingly was always reeling in a nice one when we looked over. You da man, you know who you are! We were out in front in the afternoon in the Black Lund with Merc’s. Water temp was 54ish
Monday our last day, weather & wind was forecast to be nice. Based on our results to that point, we decided to hit Barrie again. Water was calm and so was the fishing. Found several small ones and only a few keepers. Left around 3pm and headed for home.
Thanks to all that helped with tips and pointers. Thinking of heading back up next week. I am hopeful the fishing will only get better.

Thanks. One thing i forgot to report. I caught 2 of the largest gobies i have ever seen. I did not take pic's, but should have. 1 might have been over 6 inches and i could not get my hand around it. The second was nearly as big. No wonder Simcoe smallies get so big!

Yes some guys are eating the gobies too. They posted recipes here awhile ago.
I believe it could be very delicious. In China, similar fish (sea side goby?) is sold in restaurant as the price of USD$90 per kg. It tastes awesome.
I seriously consider to get some but it is hard to get 20 or 30 good size... the occasionally catch on during perch fishing is large... but 1 or 2 does not worth the work.
