Hi everyone!
Got a question about fillet knives. Iv had a buck knife when I was a lot younger which is gone now and I recently got a Rapala (hand ground stainless, rubber handle on it, was like 15$-20$ Don't remember ) which im not happy with. I Would like to use it on small to midsize fish and don't mind spending the money if it will last and be worth the money.

What knives are you guys using to fillet and bone fish and where did you purchase it?

Thanks.

Best deal on fillet knife that I've seen is from CT on sale.

Regular $30 sale at $10.

Knife, sharpener and terrific DVD on hoe to filet various species of fish.

I've bought a few - given to sons of friends . . .

Still using my original at cottage. That blade has cleaned more than a few fish . . .

One of the most important things for fillet knife is to be sharp!
The sharper the better it makes all the difference.. Like anything in life
you do it enough times you become better and better.
I let my buddies do the cleaning and I just do the catching.. Lol

I got a rapala 3 knife set on sale at Sail for $30. I keep them sharpened with a wet stone and they work well.

The best thing to do is invest in a good sharpening kit….i have had both cheap and expensive knives…..they all suck when not sharp!!

I bought the work sharp a couple of years ago and love it.

work sharp

there are lots of options out there..this one works for me...

look for the wood handle Normark ( Rapala), way better then the rubber handled ones, the old wood handle is by far the best fillet knife I've owned and I tried others. Nothing beats the cheapest Rapala wood handle, and buy the pull through cheap sharpener, they work great but only last a season depending on how many times you sharpen the knife

The best fillet knife is an electric fillet knife.

After research the names that keep popping up is the Wusthof, Bubba blade and Victorinox. Think I'm gonna give one of those a go with a good sharpening kit.

Thanks for all the feedback

The best fillet knife is an electric fillet knife.

I've had electric knife for a while now. Not too sure is that good - one fish under 19". I've not used it in over two years now . . .

Perhaps would have helped with my recent catches on Kashagawigamog the past week.

Maybe will give it a try again at home with next round of walleye . . .
