This comes up every season. I bought mine on amazon and I've been filling them for years. It is much cheaper than buying them and it saves waste at the landfill. It is a bit sketchy doing it but once your used to all the funny sounds it's pretty slick lol

If you refill outside, don't juggle a blowtorch while filling, and have just a little bit of good sense, you will probably be just fine. The horror stories you occasionally see are typically from people doing dumb things while refilling tanks. The adapters aren't available here that I've ever seen. I got mine in the US.

illegal in canada that pretty much says it all. if you blow yourself up, your wife, your neighbor, you neighbors dog or god forbid your boat. you will be liable for all damages, and sued by said wife, neighbor or dog.

I know this 1 lbs bottle refilling is illegal in Canada, due to safety concern, etc. However somehow for some known or unknown reasons, this same thing is legal in the U.S.! So at the end of the day and in the U.S., either the authority/government is NOT aware of the safety issue associated with this refilling, or in that country it is believed people know how to do this refilling safely? Or there might be some other reasons (but what)?

A sport parachutist was free falling to earth one day after his main and reserve chutes failed to open. As he was falling to his death, he noticed an ice fisherman shooting straight up at the same speed as he was falling.
As they passed, he yelled quick if he knew anything about parachutes. The ice fisherman replied, no and asked the parachutist if he knew anything about filling 1 pounders.
