Hey guys, just wondering if anybody on here fishes the Gowganda lake/Elk lake area much? Or even better, live near by??

I was up there in the summer and did okay. I only had a few days to play with so I didn't end up taking advantage of the back lakes.

I'm heading up there for a week of ice fishing at the end of February and was wondering if anybody wanted to share lakes worth trying while I'm there.

I plan on trying to find some big Pike through the ice for a day or Two. Then i'll spend the rest of the days chasing trout on back lakes. I've never caught a Splake or a Brook trout so that is my goal.....having said that, haven't fished for either one very much in the past.

I've looked at all the stocking numbers in the area. I'm just looking for some 1st hand accounts of lakes that have produced for people in the past.

Feel free to send me a P.M if you would rather it not be up on the forum.

Thanks in advance!!

Many lakes to choose. For specks try sunshine,trappershack,leta,lake#15, beauty, island or padel. silverclaim for splake. longpoint and henderson for pike. cheers 7r.

Stayed at Auld Rekie a couple of times in the spring and they have the info on the back lakes.

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply richfisher!!

We wont be staying at Auld Reekie lodge because they only have meal plans in the winter and I Wasn't looking to spend that kind of money...... the wife likes to cook for us anyway.

I'm sure they have a decent knowledge of the back lakes but because we're not staying with them, I wont be bothering them for "hot spots"
