Very nice Much nicer than the paint sticks I used with two little rounds cut in the ends. 10'' 2x4 , 16'' 1x2 , and metal strapping with 1 screw . If I remember correctly one complete wrapp of line was 23'' Coat hanger wire and elastic for the adjustable pin balance . The thieves that break into huts never liked them but liked my 6'' four way spreaders. Again very nice and good luck with Whitey white fish and Tommy trout
Eh whatever works right! Gotta find some better spreaders for mine...

Those are nice sticks which are for trout and whities. My only suggestion is to put 10 to 12 lb line and 10 feet of leader material. That way if you get a big fish on and it runs and hits the ice you won't break off so easy.
Here are the ones I made and use
Hmmm, yeah dunno how well the 6# will hold up against the edge of holes/floors of the hut. Good call.
6 test will hold up and handle trout no problem. Mono snaps easy, flouro is way better and braid is golden. But the test size is not because of what it can and cant hold. With a rods your fine with down to 4 lb test. Issue with hand bombing is line diameter. If you put any line under 10lb test on a stick and hand bomb it your gonna have some pretty nasty line cuts in the creases of your fingers. Heavens forbid you put 8lb braid on one and hook into a 15lb natural. Lol. Ouch.

AH yeah ok makes sense, never used one before so I didn't realize they hit 'up'!
Anyone have pics of their own? Or tips? Designs?
In my experience you can't tell if its a laker or a whitey by which way the stick goes. It can go up or down in either direction with either type of fish depending on which way the fish attacks from, or how fast, and what direction it takes to the bait. Sure fire way to tell is by your sonar. I can usually tell if its a whitey or a laker by its movement on the screen.
In a perfect world yes the stick would go up with a whitefish strike because of mouth on bottom and it would suck the bait up. It's just not always a perfect world.
As for fighting, I've pulled in 15lbers on hand line. No Issue, just do not allow any slack on the line at all.
