I have a pair of ICERS (from Lee Valley). I use them for glare ice conditions on Simcoe and for walking my daughter's dogs on the old bush and farm trails behind her home. Studs are individually replaceable and I'd recommend these cleats to anyone working or playing under icy conditions.

I ALWAYS have them on and spare pares for guests.
For me, I find them easy to put on and stay on so wearing them is easy. Picked up a pair of the Eagle Claw ones but not used them yet.
You have to but the right pair and NOT end up spending $40+.
Princess Auto have a good pair.
I use them in the portable hut as i clear the snow usually. It makes for sure footedness and avoids those little mini slips than can kick something down the hole.
Being a walker, they make a huge difference in gripping and such so i always wear them on the ice.

"Ice spikes" are designed to be installed in your boot sole. Made of a harder metal than regular screws from the hardware store. I bought them at the running room they work great!

I have a pair of insulated NEOS over shoe that have a studded bottom.
The boots are water proof and warm I wear running shoes or hiking boots inside if them that I can strip down to inside the pop up once the heater is going.
