My brother just moved back to Ontario after many years in BC. We went to visit today for the first time. He has a nice forest ravine lot that backs onto the Muskoka River. It's upsteam from the waterfalls in Bracebridge. Anyone know how the fishing might be up there?

I didn't bring any gear,,,,plus, the majority of the visit was taken up with the tour of the house. This thing is a behemoth.

I used to fish the river when I was a kid mostly rock bass and small mouth bass.
How far up the river is he? Is he above the rapids or the Matthiasville power dam

Reloader, all I can say is, he's about 1/4 mile upsteam from the waterfalls/generating station right in Bracebridge,,,it's all new to me since I've never been in that town.

I fish in the area and have for many years. I think you will have to hit a few of the lakes to find interesting fishing summer and winter.

I think from that stretch of the river you can get up into Spence Lake very close to my hunt camp

I fished the Muskoka River many times and know the area well. Good population of smallmouth bass and pike in the river. Bass average 1.5-2lb, with some larger bass near 4lbs. Pike, mostly hammer handles, but quite a few 24" fish and larger.

Thats good to know about smallies and pike since I enjoy catching them. My brother and I are close, so I plan on visiting a lot and get a bonus out of the deal by fishing with him,,,,if he even does. He used to when we were kids

Hey Bayliner

The real falls are under the bridge at hwy 11 called High Falls Its real neat the water drops at least 100 feet When you get off the Hwy past the airport go straight
through ( North ) think that will take you to the falls.
