I wear a mustang ice suit (2piece). I also have an auto/manual inflatable life vest which I put in on when the ice is not absolutely reliable. As I have experienced incidents on ice I don't want to take any chance any more

I got mine about a week after the first extraction of people from the ice about 20 years ago.
Same time I got mine, and worn it ever since. For anyone looking to get a floater suit or jacket and doesn't want to spend the money, check out kijiji I'v seen them there for as low as fifty bucks.

I'm looking to buy mine this week. I've read great stuff on the mustang ms-195hx integrity. I figure, it's gonna be like 500-600 bucks, but it will bring just a little more piece of mind and after reading how it saved our pals life in thick ice, that just made my decision final. I've been putting this on hold for way too long.

I replaced my original one-piece Mustang survival suit with an Integrity model recently. The Integrity contains a softer, more flexible foam which makes it much more comfortable on very cold days. Definitely worth the extra bucks as far as I'm concerned.

I dont own one so i voted no.
They cost so much and i only go out on thick ice...lol
I was saving up to get one but then a read on the boards about this one I needed some bibs anyways and with the weather i figured might as well spend a bit more and get one. Makes my wife happy too.
Thing is super warm, lots of pockets (even spots for ice picks) fits well and keep me dry not approved for boat use but thats not what i got it for. (says it will keep you buoyant for 2 hours)
Holy it goes up to size 7XL
I am interested to know how this holds up for you both.
At that price I would be worried about it being built well and lasting.
I got this suit earlier this year, and after three fishing trips and the odd bit of farm choring, I am quite pleased with it. It seems to be built solid for working in, and fairly comfortable. It has numerous vents, use' em. Not built for warm temps
I'm 5'11, 185 lbs, bought the medium size. Just right for me, but I think i could have gone with a large and be just as happy.
Was going to give it a swim test earlier in the season, but chickened out, so I can't vouch for it's buoyancy
NOTE: Just another reminder that it's not Coast Guard approved. I feel the urge to copypaste James' disclaimer

Yes I always wear a floater suit. I need some advice on a new suit. I presently own a buoy o buoy but, find it cumbersome & awkward to manoeuver. I was investigating the Arctic Armour Pro suit as others have stated they are softer, more pliable. I tried to find a source to purchase one, but, to no avail. Does any one know of a retailer where I could find one. X Bend could you give more info on the FXR you are happy with.

Yes floatation suite's are expensive but your live is more important especially if you have a family which we all done married or not. So you shouldn't put a price on life. That's my two cents.... Everyone be safe on the ice this year tight lines

When I started this thread I was curious to see if I would get a negative reaction from people that felt they didn't need it. Great to see people have one or its on their list!! As far as wearing a life jacket, that will not cut it as far as freezing to death. A floater suit will not absorb water and keep you warm after a dunk. I'm surprised someone at a sailing store would say they are the same. Go team orange!
