Out in 21 feet of water now. Hammering small perch, nothing bigger than 8" yet. Ice is popping and banging like crazy. About 20 minutes ago the entire ice sheet shook. Literally moved quite a bit. Lots of people out here and atvs and sleds ripping across the ice. We have 10" in the hut. Hoping the banging is a good thing as I've heard, but the ice sheet shaking is a new one for me. Will update as the day goes on. Beauty day out here if not for the sounds lol.

I thought some ice cracking is normal. But if it all sounds like it's going to hell its probably the recent cold snap changing things up. Keep us posted I'm going out tomorrow. What's the current hot lure for perch? Or lure presentation more specific

Small slab grabber and small jogging rap cleaning up. I have a drop shot hook above my grabber and getting a few on that as well. Plenty of fish but still none over 10". Will move out a bit deeper for the rest of the afternoon and see if that changes it up. There definitely seems to be more people out deeper than us.

As I said there's lots of people here and big machines on the ice. 10" here so I'm sure the ice is all good. Sounds more like fireworks going off underwater. Only 3rd time ice fishing for me since moving here from San Diego, so that picture above about sums up my face lol.

In all honesty i was out on kem today for the first time this year and every time the ice cracked i looked just lke that. Once i even stopped, drilled a hole tocheck and there was 6+ inches. So i never worried again

My wife took a permanent job at the lodge so we moved here last May. We are on the fingers now and starting to get better fish. Less numbers, but better size. Still no jumbos to report. I up sized my bait too so that is likely the culprit for less numbers.

Yes the ice shift is easy today. I was on nip in January and heard some cracks every now and then but nothing like this. Finally bagged what we came for.
