Well we arrived at casey's at about 6:45, grabbed our minnows and paid for parking as planned. We decided we would just walk it. We trekked out about 1.5-2k to start, 23fow.Minor hiccup as the hut poles were so cold from being in the car all night long, i couldnt keep the roof on my hut popped, it would just collapse in. So we had to start our day without the top popped and let the heater warm it up which only took about 10minutes. We only ended up moving once, a little bit further out at 26fow

The morning and most of the afternoon was pretty slow. Schools were only holding a few jumbos, and there was a pretty good lull between schools. All of my morning and afternoon fish came from jigging, i personally couldnt catch anything on a minnow. Slab grabbers and jigging raps did it for me. 90% of my fish i marked on my finder, and had to work for them. Wait for the fish to rise to my bait etc. There was no dropping a minnow down and relaxing for me...

.. until 6:00pm and then the bite really turned on. Glow jighead and minnow worked very well for me. A lot of dinks, but thats ok all i needed was a few jumbo perch for my fishfry today as i have a few lakers in the freezer, just wanted a little variety.

Heres a pic of some of the fish!

Thanks for the report, at least you got your exercise and a meal or two. Sounds like a tough bite though.

Nice work out there! I was out at VB yesterday and it was the same story. Iced about 20 jumbos but definitely had to work for them. I think the cold temps had something to do with the action. I bet this afternoon and tomorrow will be good fishing!

Yeah we had a pretty good day considering. Alan somehow ended up with the biggest of the jumbos which were caught on the pickerel rig while me and bert couldnt buy anything with minnows. He only got like 5 keepers, but each one was atleast 10" and were absolute football fatties

The obstacles, the drive, the need to be out there in those temps continue to
be so impressive. This makes reading these stories so - cool.

Glad you had a good time.
