I only live 10 minutes from the international centre, so I'm checking out the fishing show. With the frigid weather it will be a good place to be. The seminars will be interesting, and maybe I can find a deal or two.

Was there today a few deals around but for the most part everything is pricey, probably because of the low loonie. Seen part of a seminar it was good. Boat prices are sure getting up there (if you want one better win the lottery tomorrow) .Still a bit small for the money IMO

Been many times and hard to find good deals I'm my opinion... After gas $20.00, $30.00 admission for 2... just go spend that $50.00 at one of your local stores.. Lol ...

Organizers of these shows are really pricing themselves out of the game. Haven't gone in years.
As mentioned previously, $15.00 to get in, $10.00 for a sub, $5.00 for a drink... added to that no good deals to be had unless you are looking for lures that nobody wants.

I was there on Saturday, watched the JP DeRose seminar, pretty informative and he is great to listen to. Watched the Dave Mercer, he was horrible to listen to, talked about himself for the first 10 minutes, one story went into another and into another. He finally started talking about fishing.
As for the prices I spent about $50 on cranks and plastics, it was good to see the Canadian suppliers, I don't buy Chinese unless it's cranks. The rods and reels were not much of a deal, saw the same rods I purchased last year at $80 from Tremblay's there for $100. My buddy buys from the tackle wearhouse but from his calculations with the dollar, shipping, and all associated costs he finds it cheaper to buy here, knowing that I will be buying local a little more and heading to The Bait Shop in Barrie to help the small guy.

I was there Saturday and it was a waste of money and time.
The rods that were on sale were typically all very poor quality, and some of the deals were double in store prices. I was looking for a baitcasting reel and a vendor tried to sell me an ABU GARCIA Black Max reel for 90 dollars. Thats more expensive than the black max combo is at Cabelas.
It was good however to talk with some of the companies there about their upcoming line ups.

You would figure this big company's would have promotion sales for the show, but I guess they don't care for today's fishermen, or the Canadain on this side of the border, seems big offers are always offer to the States, so why bother go to this shows, seem the venders there are trying to get rid of last year stock at a higher price, and nothing ready wow at this show, unless you have money to burn today, best to stay home with family,or friends, or be on the ice where safe, and enjoy the day!

I went Saturday. Same as everyone else mentioned. Over priced. And the company reps don't sell anything. Only the vendors can sell. Weird, but that's the way it is. Cheers!

I happened to be at a small booth and caught a flash sale. I was looking at the Lew's Mach 1 spinning reel. It was there for $80. Buddy said next 5 minutes only rods and reels are 20% off. So I picked it up for $64 flat.

In any industry these "athletes" have to stop with the me, me, me attitude. Their focus should be to encourage, suggest, show their methods / tactics, etc.
Black Friday's are a perfect example. Bring out the items that didn't sell last season, post a bunch of foo foo signs, sell it all....... These fishing shows can be similar in some of the booths.
