I'm Russian. Be thankful that you have stocked fish and regulations. Otherwise you wouldn't have any fish. 30 a year or 60 a year. If they stock one fish into the lake for every license bought we are good. Be thankful or you would be taking pics with trophey smelts.
You have a lake that's under an hour away from the biggest city and you can catch lake trout.

You mean "had"
They just closed Scugog, they didn't stock it. Sturgeon is closed everywhere, every game fish limit I know has been at least halved in my short life. Almost every time I go on the ice there is a $15,000 snowmobile driving up and "checkin za paperz" by some cold dude in body armour.
It's not getting better it's getting worse. Way worse.
Yeah, I'm thankful we have a federal and provincial government on their way to making us Soviets before Perestroika.

Man if it bothers you so much in the first place then stay home. I am not happy with all the yearly changes in regulations either but it is what it is and neither you nor I can change it. Yet on any given day of the year there is a season open for me to go out there and fish and you just can't get that anywhere else..

Apologies, my bad , the 165.47 is for canadian residents who do not live in ontario for a 3 year sport license
No worries dude.
I had to check because they screwed me once before, and I won't let them do it again.
I renewed my wife's license early one year so as to not have any issues right?! Wrong!!! Because I renewed early December they counted that as the first year of three, and they wouldn't make any exceptions when I spoke to them immediately after. Bastards!
Needless to say....... I never renew my outdoors card or licenses before Jan 1st anymore even though I know it's possible to without penalty.

It makes scene x2
I so agree.
so much b####in over a small thing.......what hasn't gone up in costs?
Let's leave the politics out of this as that goes nowhere.

Remember when we did not have to pay!!! It was us fisher people who suggested to have a licence to put the money into the MNR for enforcement and projects. The thing that upsets me is most of our money heads straight to the general purpose account, and they reduce our exposure to activities. GRRRRRR.
This is not true 100% of fishing and Hunting fees go into the fish & wildlife special purpose account which funds the MNR.

ya, but they cut back their normal annual funding by that same ammount collected so in essence no move forward.

Exactly, this is the problem, when the fishing license was established the community was lead to believe it would enhance the MNR budget, unfortunately it has now become the only funding except for I believe 1.5% from the general budget. This is the reason so many cuts to the MNR have happened in recent years.
