Hey everyone! I have been using a tip up for a while since I'm normally in a hut with other people. But every time I go out alone it's much to windy to set up my hut by myself. I started looking for other ways to fish a dead stick. I came across the trustee old bobber. A few videos on you tube about slip bobbers have peaked my interest! Do you prefer a tip up or slip float as a strike indicator?

I prefer a tipper just because i always set it up 20 or 30 ft away as my second line but if your hovering around in the hut im sure the bobber is more accurate.

I love the slip bobber. Never used them until I saw Db posting about them, but I did notice you can't get too far from your hole or you'll lose sight of them.

I jerry rigged my delkim alarms with back-drop weights to detect whitefish pick-ups as well. To bad I never got out to the deep water to test the set-up

X2! Slip bobber 100% of the time in the shack! I call fish in with a rattle bait and 75% of the time they hit the dead stick! Deadly combination!

He's talking the old wood tipups that you balance. Not one you can set and walk away from. Those you cannot use outside unless it is dead calm.

A somewhat biased opinion perhaps, but 1 borne out by experience. (unless all those fish/victims were photoshopped)

If your fishing crappies or perch try a spring bobber . You will catch 5 gallon buckets full over a slip bobber rig any day TD

I will definitely give that a try next time I am fishing for perch.
