flyfish4steelhead. My apologies if any offense was taken. This was you first post and you discovered that, apparently, I'm not good with temptation. I wasn't on the lake to see,... "got the early call home!" (You see?!) Maybe someone else might know.

Hi Folks and especially Flyfish4steelheader:
Hey guys take it easy on the new poster.
I personally would be concerned if I saw a helicopter flying low over the lake given the state of ice etc. this year. He may have actually been onto something that could have saved lives by posting a potential warning.
I have seen numerous helicopters flying low over and around the lake in recent history. After a while I started to pay attention to the colour and/or markings on the helicopters - because - in some cases it could be an emergency situation.
Specifically - the dark green ones are mostly likely military, the bright orange ones are most likely air ambulance, the white ones with decals that read YRPD usually mean they are searching for someone who is lost on the lake and/or they are responding to a 911 call.
OK - I have to admit some of the comments were funny - but - I personally take safety on the lake seriously.

No offense taken. Yes it was orange and that is why I was wondering. I am from Michigan and with the exception of this winter with bad ice, I am on the Saginaw bay every week. Crossing big cracks and open water 8-10 miles off shore is the norm for use so don't get to scared but if we hear a chopper or airboat, that's bad. Fishing was slow at the time so thought I would post since we all know ice is moving. Thanks for having me.
