Out at Johnson beach today marking a lot! No hits tho.

BUT I have had these two guys post up at most 25yds from my hut this morning. What's the etiquette as far as fair distance from other fisherman? I feel like this is too close, or maybe I'm just being an @sshole.

If im more than 50 yards to a spot that I like to fish and someone else is close by already then ill just ask if they mind me setting up close by.

Back in the day, the rule of thumb for deep water was twice water depth as a minimum, that always seemed reasonable to me. Sadly, in recent years more and more people set up well inside that boundary without a second thought.

Personal ice space varies really.

I wouldn't mind that distance myself, but i also would be more included to go talk to them if they're out of their hut.

Amen. As long as I can still see my fisher finder without insane interference I could care less.

Yea twice the water depth seems reasonable. I'm in 73fow.

These guys must be hard of hearing. They have been practically yelling at each other the whole time. Had to crank the radio to drown em out

I had someone set up like 10 meters from my hut up at Gull lake! I just laughed because I could hear them complaining about not getting any bites while my buddy and I were pulling up lakers and Walleye on a consistent basis.

I try to keep my distance to 50m but if I want to fish a feature or structure on bottom I will post up closer.

See, this i would find annoying.

I was out on saturday and as the early afternoon came, a group of 6 guys fishing together must've been hitting the bottle a bit much and started to get really loud. Fishing is a relaxing event for me, therapeutic so to speak, but the shouting kinda kills it - and they were probably 2-300 feet away.

I've actually had people set up closer and mess up my sonar. It's typical Simcoe and people dont respect space.

Consider yourself lucky for being able to go out during the week. If this was a weekend you'd have 30 people around you.

Perhaps they've been fishing that exact spot all week,..........and maybe you're now in their space?

I tend to try to avoid close proximity to others on the ice. If someone sets up close to me I'm not so bothered. But man, do I hate it when they get loud! We're all out for a good time. That means different things to different people obviously.

Then again, I'm also a quiet drunk

Maybe you're just being a @sshole like you mentioned. In situation like these, there is really nothing you can do if people set up close to you. Maybe the spot that they're at is their honey hole? I understand that you were there first and its annoying having people so close by but what are you going to do? B!tch and complain online or actually go over there and tell them that they're too close to you? I'm sure you rather just keep your mouth shut and put some fishes on the ice. Just make sure if you hook up to scream FISH ON!!! to kinda rub it in their face. That's pretty much all you can do or move somewhere else.
