Hello all, i believe this has been my first report of the season, not for the lack of fish but because of how busy i have been fishing , anyways, 4 days ago i put my hut in the beaverton trout grounds knowing ice was 11-12" thick where i wanted to put my hut. so i pulled my hut off my perch honey hole and dragged it out 9km off shore to 52 fow. i had excellent luck pulling in a few whites and a trout in the few days i was out. HOWEVER, today as i traveled out to my hut, the few small cracks that were easily crossable and barely noticeable yesterday turned in to open water! spots of the "crack" were up to 20-30 feet wide with small waves rolling in the centre lol, so we found a spot to bounce over the crack and get to the hut. we pulled up to the hut did an hour or so of fishing, lost a big one on the tip up and started back with the hut, with careful inspection we found a place to once again "bounce" over the crack and back to the perch honey hole once again , its been a great short season this year with less then favourable conditions but has to be one of my best seasons for perch, i didnt get out to my trout spot from last year but 4 days on the ice less then a few km's away from it will have to do. FYI: anybody that has their hut in the second group (furthest) i advise you to go and get it soon because she might drift away if these winds change directions at all. My season isn't over as we slammed them again in the perch grounds today but conditions in the perch grounds are getting soft as the pressure crack running from beaverton harbour to thorah island is heaved up and sunk down in quite a few spots. good luck everyone on the rest of your season and savour what is left of it, before you know it she'd be gone!.pics to follow
