Sturgeons, Are there Sturgeons in Simcoe?

Was out with a outfitter couple weeks ago and seen a fish swimming around that to me looked like a sturgeon but didn't think there was any on lake simcoe

Hmmm....I think there is one location where you might be able to. I fish the Ottawa river and my camp is on the Quebec side. The Quebec MNR confirmed with me in writing that my Ontario license is valid while fishing the Ottawa river on their side but I have to abide by the Quebec catch and possession limits. You are allowed to keep one under 106cm. So if you launch from Ontario and pass the half way mark across the river then you are technically in Quebec and your license now falls under Quebec and can catch one and bring it back with you. Doesn't seem any different then when I shoot my buck in Quebec where the hunt starts before the Ontario hunt and bring it back with me. I legally harvested it in a different jurisdiction. I could see how it might be tough to prove you caught it on the Quebec side if stopped in Ontario waters but I have heard they are not as tough on border rivers because of the shared catch and possession limits.

I've caught a few but never bothered keeping them. Look like they would be tough to clean.
