Opportunities Abound

Don't give up on the season just yet.
Rino and I got out today, after taking Tuesday and Wednesday off, for obvious reasons.
It was cold this morning, minus 25 when I left Huntsville at 7am, but there was very little wind.

The trek out on our Yamaha Grizzlys wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Keep it in 4x4 and keep going forward. Should be interesting to see what the coming mild weather does to all that snow sitting on the ice.

There's still enough safe ice in spots on the lake to get around- you just gotta do your homework and find where.

Sitting comfortably in the hut with the Little Buddy heating up the interior, a steaming hot cup of coffee and Whities below was how we started our day.

We didn't mark a lot of Whitefish, but what we did mark were willing to play.
Vibratos, dropper rigs with nymphs and Goby imitations fooled them.

The best part of the day was Rinos memorable battle with a very large Laker, the biggest we've seen this short season. Three times the behemoth spooled Rino and each time Rino brought the Laker closer to the hole. It's a good thing Rino uses a 10 inch auger. Finally tired, the Laker submitted himself for a few quick photos and then it was back to the deep waters of Simcoe.
