Wow, what a day, to keep it short, 8 teens, 3 adults, 15 rods in the water and 3 perch to show for our 7 hrs of work, what a sh$%ty day, were with an operator which to be honest wasn't his fault, accommodations were good, good ride in and out, but pretty sad when even the perch don't bite, anyway that's why its called fishing, great time with the kids, better than a day at work or school, that's for sure. come on smelts.

It happens sometimes but at least you had a good day on the ice. Were you able to move around or did you just fish around the huts. An auger is a good investment if you don't have one.... Thanks for the report!!!

We were pretty much confined to the limits of our camp, definitely, next trip out will be bolster, much more of a drive, but from whats been caught on this end, something that needs to be done, oh well, no amount of fish can match watching the kids on the ice instead of in front of their PS4. Stay safe.

I have never gone for smelts. What season are they usually in. How do you cook them. Filet them? I wouldn't even know where to begin looking for them? Are they tastey?

All you do for smelt is open up the body cavity pull the guts out and cut the head of then fry them how ever you like your fish
