Hi All, Went fishing today with Xiaolu (James) for steelhead. First time fishing for steelhead in a river for James. Conditions were tough, water was low and clear and the trout were shy. I did manage to hook into one nice chrome steelhead about 3-4lb, but lost the fish in some rapids after a brief battle. Typical float fishing setup was used, 12 ft noodle rod, spinning gear w/ 8lb mono and 6lb fluoro leader, float and small hooks. Our presentation consisted of roe in various colours and bumblegum worms. All-in-all a great day to be out fishing. Cheers, Jerry

Thanks Jerry for the fishing today. I enjoyed it a lot (and yes, a first time for me for trout fishing in a shallow river with fast running water), though we didn't land any fish:-)
PS: Next time make sure you bring a loooooooong fish-landing net!:-)

Glad you had fun James.. Yes, my next project is to make a landing net with long handle (preferably retractable), Bob knows I lost my brown trout the same way..

Hey Guys Too bad the fishing wasn't better, but at least you were out there. Weather looked pretty good. It started raining up here at Horseshoe Valley around 10:30. switched to snow around Noon and is still coming down. We've had about 4 inches so far. Hope to do some steelheading on Thursday. SDC
hey great photos jerry/james.i love the 1st pic with you looking at the 2 anglers only one has a rod the other is power smoking lol....the look on your face is priceless
